No updates for online yet. Looks like they hage stopped updating online statuses. Anyways Why to bother for that now when we have phsical MTR approval and letter in hand physically.

My MTR has been approved after 70 days and I-485 has been reopened. Though online status has not been changed yet but attorney received an MTR approval notices.

May be we should try to lobby for a bill with one time relief of Backlog of EB retrogressed.
I feel that once this backlog is reduced, it will be easier for future applicants anyway as H1Bs are reduced to 65000 from last few years.
I request IV core to look into this option as the opposition from anti immigrants would be less for something like this. This has happened once before in yr 2000.

People feel as if they have achieved something big after getting an EAD. EAD is not a visa and EAD status is not a valid status. You in fact lose your h1b valid status once you invoke AC21.
I have personally seen people change their attitudes as if they have achieved a gold medal in Olympics and talk big about "'Fingerp[rinting", about AC21, as if they have written the AC21 law. Does anyone know how AC21 came into picture on the first hand? There was an advocacy group called "Immigrant Social Network" that was behind the AC21. Prior to that, EB rules were extremely stringent with no portability.
Everyone browses this website, gains knowledge and behaves as if he/she is an immigration expert and has achieved something big.
We have been cajoling people. To what extent?
Words cannot describe the amount of effort "needhelp" has been putting in. She still continues to be the same and claims that her morale will never go down and her commitment levels have increased. All the cowards, and so called smart asses - try to learn some good lessons from people like her.
Life is not all about shopping at Macys, talking about fingerprinting, and watching TV, and spending hours on phones talking about how dealstobuy is different from buy.com or not about how CVS pharma sells the same item for less rate than rite aid. Life is not all about "sitting here doing nothing and talking about how different countries are rising and why one MUST not care for his own good"
IV is a volunteer organization and every member is equally responsible member. If you try to elude, and act smart - it only reflects your dirty character.
If you are here, do something. Yes, atleast something that you feel you can do. Please do not cheat those who are working extremely hard for your cause.

I called Rep Lamar Smith office. The lady who picked up the phone asked me we are getting lot of calls. She asked me are you in supprot of the bill? I told her yes. I also told her that I am having master's degree from USA. My children are top student but may not get admission in some of NJ medical college just because we did not get GC since last 7 years. So we need help from Rep Lamar Smith to make USA more competitive. She also wanted to know that from where I was calling.

Indeed it seems very few people are interested as most member may have their 485 submitted already. EB immigrants are a small minority of this country, yet we are only a small portion of this small minority. It is a sad fact, but it should not stop us from fighting..

We have consistenly advocated for this provision which we believe will curb arm twisting by bad employers, that are like few bad apples in the big basket. Such a provision will help everyone including USCIS, lawyers, genuine companies, and direct+indirect beneficiary. Its a win-win for all.

I got biometrics notice for an appointment in the past :mad::mad::mad:
So, I made copies of the notice and put together cover leter and asked to be rescheduled for Sep.
Will call next week to follow up. In the meantime I noticed soft LUD on the date of my supposed biometrics....but the online message still says document production ordered....
Total chaos guys....:mad:

This year with overflows from ROW category, maybe 40K extra numbers were used for backlog reduction. Adding 10k for each china and India it makes the number 60K. Isnt 90K better than 60k (if we are lucky) under current system?

Shows you the general herd mentality on this forum. As long as everyone is thinking the same way, everything is great. If you differ, everyone will call for a ban on you. They are all lemmings. Unfortunately, I had to come to this forum for news. I have never seen such a bunch of dimwitted people in one place...
None has called a ban for anyone being differ but it's just the way you express your opinions by using the words like "herd mentality", "dimwitted" etc. Not that you have accepted that you are here for news only, I don't think we need people like you.
IV is not a news site. It's a group of people who are fighting for a common cause. One needs to understand the common cause is not just helping July filers or people affected with retrogress but a bigger aim of helping all the legal employment-based immigrants. But one also needs to understand that not all the objective can be accomplished at a time and we need to strike the iron when it's hot and make every opportunity count, be it a BEC, retrogression, July filer or Visa recapturing.
Having said that, I do agree that BEC is one of the issue which should definitely be focussing on next. I'm sure IV members (even if they are not a BEC victim) will support whole heartedly any cause which can bring some relief to BEC victms. What we need is a united front and some unique ideas like flower campaign. Do not forget the flower campaign idea was pursued by one of the IV member who was not part of core.

I have a H1 B based on IT ( Software Engineer).
I have already completed 6 years in the US, but I have three year extension till 2010 based on my labour pending for over 1 year.
I am not very keen about Green Card - But I wanted to change my job to Marketing for an insurance company (better pay and it is a role I like).
My questions are :
1) Can I transfer my H1 to do Markeing for the insurance company ( the job profiles are going to be different as my current job is in software) ?
2) Since I am on a three year extension based on my current Labor will it be an issue to transfer to the new company ? ( The new company is willing to transfer but is not willing to file a new H1).
Your advice is much appreciated.

I think it is not fair on your part to say that current IV core has not achieved anything. To form an organization and getting people with similar interests and problems in itself is a major task.
It is very easy to say fancy things like "nada, zitto, zapata..."..(I dont even know what the last thing means). I am not sure even if you or me get into their shoes we would be able to operate in manner which delivers results in a matter of weeks.
Please do think I am snipping at you personally. I too am someone who is suffering from the pain caused by this GC mirage like you and I completely empathize with you.
