Any plans in your mind how to get every member pay $1 every month?
I gave my opinion on this in past. As we are dealing "very intelligent" community, need straight forward agenda to collect donation. Vague ideas don't work for collecting donation in our community. Pappu took a nice initiative and published 5 high level agenda items. Lets analyze how much money each agenda will need and we can move forward from there.

Uscis will mark it received on the 3rd. Anyway, what's the difference?

Looks like IRS is not going to give us back 1200$ as part of the stimulus package,which they were planning to earlier.

mmm...didnt knew about this..After living and working here for ten years, i am still in-eligible for the tax rebate...phew!!!! (filed jointly, no SSN for my wife)..maybe i will claim it all next year....I am eternally optimistic :-)

I understand your frustration. Since there is no spillover in the first quarter of new fiscal year, it was expected that PD would move back. How can you you expect 2006 PD for Oct when there is no spillover visa numbers.
Next year Jul-Sep 2009, PD should move to mid 2006 again.

again... look for links to RG's website for this. My personal opinion is, it is always much safer if you have a good experienced immigration attorney on your side.
3. How much it costs to go thru' MTR process? How long it takes?
Most likely 60 - 90 days. Costs can vary, but it is not really really high.

AILA has reported a very interesting or confusing DOS LegalNet Office letter which one of the members received towards the fact that the consular posts had already been allocated their numbers for the month of July prior to EB visa numbers becoming unavailable on July 2 and that the posts may continue to use their July allocations of EB numbers, and continue to issue Immigrant Visas for the rest of this month, July, for those applicants who were scheduled for IV interviews in July. Concurrent filing can be done by anyone with approved Labor Certification. Schedule A applicants already have pre-approved LC.
This means, that not only Schedule A can file concurrently but also others as well.

Leave aside the asset I am in debt of over 200K , If I leave the country looses may be 1-2K

I just did the math.
I am sure most of you have assets worth of at least $150,000. So if 300,000 are stuck in the backlog. This would mean if these guys leave this country, then that would be $45 trillion loss for USA.
Guys is there a way to get some media publicity of the possible loss of $45 trillion for USA due to US Immigration mess??

I have a question about a unique situation of getting stuck in BEC and applying 485 with a newer PERM case. If LC is stuck in BEC at this time, but the person has a new PERM+140 from a different location and applies 485. Can this person change the priority date of 485 when the old LC from BEC gets approved, and 140 approved, to the BEC PD?
I am on the same boat. But I don't know the answer! Guys please help.

So far as locating old PDs are concerned, it USCIS knows it exists and if there is willinglness, they can dig it out from anywhere.
On the other hand , if this not fixed then even if there are 200K extra visas, the sufferings will persist.
Well - what I say is - there is an issue and we have to fix it. But do you think such a tangential effort work?
It is also known/unknown that USCIS simply does not have a system in place to locate files with old PDs - constant changes to system may have resulted in poor record keeping. I do agree that this issue has to be brought to limelight.
I personally feel that any effort must be effective and not a half hearted effort - what I am trying to say is opening a thread and running 10 pages of messages and doing nothing? Does that work for us? Can that be effective?

Did any of you guys read the USCIS ombudsman report in detail. It talks about FBI namechecks in some detail and specifically mentions that the namechecks are less detailed than what USCIS already does through it's available databases. In fact the FBI checks fewer things than what the USCIS already checks and so the ombudsman believes that the FBI name check is a waste of time and should be done away with.
Nevertheless USCIS still keeps the FBI name check and I believe that is for purely political reasons where they can conveniently pass the buck if something untoward happens.
Therefore harping on the FBI namecheck issue for the weekend processing may not be a good idea.
