New York Yankees designated hitter Hideki Matsui, a Japanese native, just hit a beautiful home run in game 2 of the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Matsui is an unusual player because he bats left-handed and throws right-handed. The 35-year old Matsui was a star in Japan before he was recruited to play for the Yankees in 2003. He's the first Japanese player to hit 100 or more homers in the Major League. Matsui also has the odd distinction of being the player selected by Paul Rudd for a fantasy baseball draft in the movie Knocked Up and he...

Hello Attorney`s
I am in a weird situation here, I was Laid off on July 21st with pay in lieu until 4th August. I had applied for Change of Status to F2 (my wife is on F1) on 17th August. On 31st August I got a job offer and applied for H1B transfer to USCIS on 8th September (using 15th august paystub as the latest).
At the same time i filed to USCIS to revoke my F2 application.
Today I got a notice from USCIS that my application for change of status to F2 is approved as of 09/21/2009.
Now, I dont know what to do, does it mean I am now on F2? Is my H1B transfer application still valid or I need to apply again this time on premium processing.
What should be my next course of action. Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
Thanks so much..!!
Have a great day..!

Hi Friends,
I have approved I-140 (PD Sep,2007) but recently my H1 extension was denied so had to come on H4, so now what will happen to my GC, do I have to start from scratch OR my I-140 is still valid once I come back on H1 (with different employer).
Please respond

The Boston Globe reports on another case of a potential DREAM Act recipient facing deportation. Alan, the individual who is the subject of the story, is the son of Mexican migrant laborers, came to the US as an infant and his academic success has been an inspiration to children in his neighborhood. Like many others, he did not learn he was illegally present in the US until he was much older - in this case, high school. The Globe notes that Alan is going to leave the US: Now Alan sees Mexico as his only option. His mother is against...

Hello everyone, thanks in advance for any reply.
I mailed in my wife's I485 and I130 together (she's from China, and we just got married a month ago), and I just realized that I forgot to include the marriage license with the forms!
Now, what are my options? I noticed that they have not cashed my 2 checks yet, should I cancel them so I at least don't get charged for the forms that will be rejected?
Or, is there any way for me to mail the marriage license separately and hope they get it?
Right now, I think it would be better to just redo the forms, but do I have to wait for the forms to get rejected first?
Thanks very much.

Hi,
My Priority date is Jun 2006/EB2 India. After the Aug bulletin I'm now afraid that my priority date might get current next month.
My concern is that I might be getting married in the near future and I don't want to deal with an immigration nightmare for my spouse. At the same time I don't want to rush a decision like getting married based on USCIS priority dates. Is there anyway I could delay my GC adjudication for 3-4 months to get some more time ...
Thanks!

Last Tuesday, Chuck Kuck, immediate Past-Prez of AILA, and I covered the landscape of current developments in U.S. immigration law and policy on "The Immigration Hour," Chuck's weekly program on America's Web Radio. If you've grown weary of the health-care debate and are hankering for the next large public controversy, give a listen. We covered the origin and current exploits of the USCIS Fraud Detection and National Security (FDNS) unit, the latest meanderings of their outsourced compatriots who are paying visits to American employers from sea to shining sea, and the prodding of Sen. Grassley to find more and more...

Hi,
I believe someone already asked a similar question but I just want to describe my exact situation:
- My LC (EB3) got approved on July 2007, PD is March 2007 - Company A
- My I-140 and I-485 were filed concurrently on July 2007 - Company A
- I work as a contractor and my client (Company B) is offering me a full-time job and would like me to join on Sept 2007
- I still have 4 years on my H1B
With the assumption that my current employer (Company A) will give full cooperation on my current GC process, if I join company B on H1B transfer now, can I possibly invoke AC21 later after my I-140 gets approved and I-485 is pending for more than 180 days?
I'll greatly appreciate any comments.

USCIS has updated the H-1B cap count (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=138b6138f898d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCR D&vgnextchannel=91919c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1 RCRD). As of October 30, 2009, CIS has received approximately 53,800 cases against the regular (non-Master's) H-1B cap. Two of my favorite things about America joined up! From the Grand Canyon to Yosemite to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in my part of the world, the United States has one of the world's great national park collections with spectacular beauty and millions of square miles protected from development. And obviously our longstanding commitment to maintaining a vibrant, open immigration policy (despite the best efforts of xenophones to destroy it) has made us an example to the world. From the National Park Service: The National Park Service is partnering with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration...

Our friendly anti Jack has provided in the comments a couple of links to an intriguing story regarding Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele (currently embroiled in another scandal - this time involving strippers and GOP money - oy!). Steele has been one of the moderate voices in the GOP when it comes to immigration reform in the past and apparently he met with a pro-reform group called the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM). Accounts differ regarding whether Steele promised to work for immigration reform and, more specifically, help round up a second GOP Senator to sponsor the reform bill...
